Knowing your Face Shape and the Best Cut for your Face

There are 6 face shapes that many people do not take in to consideration when deciding the cut they want.  Today's lets talk about knowing your face shape and picking out the perfect cut for your face.
Once you know the 6 shapes and the do's and don'ts for that shape it is easy to see exactly what the perfect look will be for your face. So let's dive in and learn your look.

Heart-Shaped Face: If your chin is pointed and the widest part of your head is your forehead, you have a heart-shaped face. A widow's peak is a common attribute for a heart-shaped face but not all heart-shaped faces have widow's peaks.  Now the fun part of this face shape is you have options for your hair style.  One common hair style is generally based around the bang, many people want to soften the wide forehead with bangs like a side-swept bang, a brow touching bang, long layered cut or even a pixie.  You have options for this shape so have fun with this shape.  If you are still confused on exactly what this shape looks like let me throw a Celeb name out there to give you visual to know for sure.  Reese Witherspoon

Round-Shaped Face: A Round-Shaped face is very similar to Square.  The sides of your face curve slightly out instead of being straight. Your chin is rounded and your cheek bones are the widest part of your face. The best hair style for you will be Chin Length and Long Bobs (aka LOB), soft, face framing layers; long bangs.  Take a look at Jennifer Lawerence for your Celeb visual.

Rectangle-Shaped Face: Rectangular faces are also called Oblong. They are similar to the Square-Shaped face but longer.  You forehead, cheek bone and jawline are approximately the same width and your chine will be slightly curved.  Your best hair style with be soft waves; Long face framing layers or a chin length bob. Your Celeb visual will be Sarah Jessica Parker.

Square-Shaped Face: If the sides of your face are straight and your jawline is slightly angled with minimal curve you have a Square-Shaped face.  Your face is generally as wide as it is long, if you measure from your temple to where your jawline starts it will be basically the same width.  You have sharp angular features, including a sharp jawline. Great hair cuts for Square-Shaped Face is Chin Length and Long Bob (aka: LOB); soft, face framing layers and long bangs.  Your Celeb visual for a Square-Shaped face would be Cameron Diaz or Rhianna.

Diamond-Shaped Face: You have always heard the saying Diamonds are a girls best friend it works exactly the same is Face Shape.  Diamond-Shaped faces have a pointed chin with lovely high cheek bones, imagine drawing a line from the center or your hair line to you cheek bones then connecting the line to your chin, it would create a diamond shape. The Best hair cut for you would be Long Layers; Side Swept Bang or a Lovely Shag.  If you think you have a Diamond-Shaped face take a look at Jennifer Lopez as a quick Celeb Visual.

Oval-Shaped Face: People with Oval-Shaped Faces have a forehead that is only a tiny bit wider than their curved chin. Imagine an upside down egg.  Although imagining your face shape is an upside down egg, you are one of the luckier shapes as almost any hair style will work for your face shape. You can rock everything from and Angular Bob to a Long Beach Wave, there are really no limits for this shape.  Still need a visual?  Kelly Rowland would be your Celeb Visual.

So no matter your face there is the perfect hair style for you.  Talk with your stylist and let them help you determine your face shape so you can Rock the Perfect Look.
