Hand Tied Extensions

The days of waiting for your hair to grow longer is a thing of the past as hair extensions are the hot trend to get that longer, fuller, more voluminous style in one session with your stylist. It is fun, and it's easy and the best no commitment way to reach your makeover goals. Your goals and options are practically endless with extensions.  With extensions you have the freedom to rock almost any cut and color you can dream of. Once you leave your stylist chair you will feel like a new man or woman with the exact length and thickness you want. With all the different types of extensions you can get, Hand Tied are the latest trend.

So what makes Hand Tied extensions a good possible option for you?  With hand tied extensions, your stylist is able to attach the weft to the least amount of your natural hair and at the same time the weft covers the most surface area.  This is a great option to give you the fuller/thicker hair with out connection to as much of your natural hair. In the long run this could be a healthier option for extensions.

With being able to control the width of the weft you are able to obtain fuller thicker hair.

One huge advantage for the Hand Tied extensions is the hair is reusable and you are able to color to give you every possible option.  If it is time for a redo, it is an easy fix to untie and reattach to give you back to the fresh look you walked out with the first time you came in for your Hand Tied Extensions.

The key to getting the Hand Tied extensions that will work for you, you will need to come in for a consultation.  Communication between you and your stylist is important.  You need to communicate the look you want and allow your stylist to choose the extensions that will work for you.

Gasparilla Parade, are you ready for the Invasion!!!!!!!!

Gasparilla weekend is upon us, the Pirates are ready to invade and the townspeople are getting ready to fight back.  As everyone gets ready for the Invasion and Parade are you ready?

One of my favorite events of Gasparilla is the Pirate Ship invasion/boat parade that happens this weekend January 26th and begins at 11:30 AM.  Cannon's blaring and 1,000's of pirates come out to begin the festivities of the day.  Boats line up around the Jose Gasparilla Pirate Ship and fight the battle as the ship pulls into the bay between Harbor Island and Davis Island.  The air is full of excitement and drinks begin to flow.  It is one of the most exciting times to be in Tampa.

As the day moves along whether you are heading to one of the many Brunch's that will be going on that morning, heading to a House Party or head back home to get ready for the parade remember to have fun but stay safe.  You have your costume on and your hair looks perfect, which is an important part of your costume.  You wonder where should I go to watch the parade.  Depending on your crew and who is with you, especially if you have young pirates that still want to see the floats but you don't want them to see the Rum flowing, check out downtown near  Curtis Hixon Water Park it is a great place for the more family friendly pirates, but if you want the party and want to taste the rum, head down to Bay Shore.  You may wonder where exactly but it really doesn't matter where on Bay Shore....it is all one BIG PARTY!!

Things not to forget for the parade. It looks like it is going to be cloudy and not as HOT as it was last year but don't forget your SUN screen....even Pirates can get a Sun Burn and don't just protect your skin....even your hair needs to be protected from the Sun so use a hair product that has a great SPF protection like Milk Shake 12 Effects leave in conditioner or cover your head with a simple bandanna.  You will look the part and keep your hair protected.

Find your friends, enjoy the party and catch a ride parking will be CRAZY and you don't want your ship pulled over by the pirate police for to much RUM stored aboard!!!  Have fun and stay safe...don't trust every Pirate you meet, some will try to push you over the side of the ship or make you walk the plank.  It's a fun time so HAVE FUN!!!  Let's get this Pirate Party Started.

Gasparilla, Is your Costume and Hair Ready?

The fun and excitement is in the air for Gasparilla, but are you ready?  Have you ordered your costume or had it made?  Is you hair on point to be the best looking male or female Pirate, Wench or Swabbie? No matter the look you
chose, you still need to make sure your look is on point.

After many years of going to parties and Gasparilla events, it never fails people decide to cover their own hair with wigs, which is a fun and great way to give you a new and different look, but the wigs aren't styled.  Don't let your wig be the down fall of you fabulous costume.  If you decide on a wig remember it is the closest accessory to your face, and what do you want people to see?  YOU!!!   Make sure you have that wig or even your own hair on point, and men that goes for you as well.  Don't take it out of the package and think it is ready to put on your head.  Put a little work into it and make it a great accessory to your look. If you are going for the dreads look which is a great look for a pirate, some simple hair product over each of the dreads can smooth them down for a polished look.  No matter the style of wig you choose, style it...you will love your look and it will complete your costume.

Now men, make up for your look is ok!!!  Pirates were rough and tough but a great eye liner and some scruff on your face, if you aren't able to grow your self, is ok. You can create that scruff shadowing on your face and give your self that sharp chiseled jawline you want with a little make up.  You can simply get a stipple sponge and some dark make up and put that right on your face and give you the rough and  tough look you are going for. But seriously, but some eyeliner and give your eyes the dramatic pop they need to set your look on top of everyone else.

Now, you have your costume, hair and make up ready, put it on find your party and have a great Gasparilla.

Gasparallia 2019

We love to go out and Celebrate the biggest festival in Tampa, which last for weeks during the month of January, but do you know the history behind why we celebrate.

Gasparilla began in 1904 and was originally celebrated on a Monday in February, but in 1988, celebration was moved to a Saturday so that people from other areas of Florida could come and celebrate. Moving the date immediately made the festival begin to grow. Gasparilla is now one of the country’s largest annual parades/festivals, which attracts about 600,000 people each year.

Now, have you ever wondered where the name Gasparilla comes from. There was a  legendary pirate named José Gaspar, “last of the Buccaneers,” who terrorized the coastal cites and waters of West Florida during the late 18th and early 19th century. So the story goes that when he died, he left buried treasure along the Florida coast, which was never found.

In 1904 the first Krewe, whose members recreated the 1st fake pirate attack in the Tampa Bay.  The idea of the attack was to celebrate Gaspar's Terror on the Coast of Florida, as well as bring a little New Orleans' Mardi Gras to the Florida Shores. This first Krewe came into the city on horseback and Captured the City wearing Pirate costumes they rented from New Orleans'. Seven years later the first ship was used to capture and invade the city, but in 1937 the group purchased their own ship which they named, The José Gasparilla I. This event has lead up to where we are today.

Now to help you get through the next few weeks of Pirates Capturing our city and Invading our Bay, here are the Pirate Terms you will need to know.

"Blimey!" A surprise exclamation.  Blimey! I Had to much Rum last night.
"Take a caulk" or to take a nap. It's time to "Take A Caulk" after last nights adventure.
"Arr!" or "Argh!" They are proclamations of excitement. Arr! That's good rum.
"Dead men tell no tales" not leaving any survivors behind.
"Scupper that!" It is an angry expression which means "Throw that overboard!"
"Show a leg!" A fun phrase meant to wake up a sleeping pirate.
"Sail ho!" Another ship is in view since the sail is the first thing visible over a horizon.

The most important rule behind Gasparilla is have fun and enjoy the festival....Arr!! We are going to have a blast.
