6 Common Questions asked about Going Blonde

We want to touch base on the most common questions asked about going blonde. So lets jump right in:

1. Will Blonde work for me?

Choosing the right hair-color is about much more that liking a photo on Pinterest or Instagram. From eye color, skin tone, face shape, there are several factors that go into determining if a hair color will work for you.  Does it mean I have to stay away from all Blondes if my skin tone is a specific color? No, it just means that your stylist will have to pick the proper Blonde tone to complement your personal features. Will Blonde work for me?  YES

2. What is the Maintenance like for a Blonde?

When going Blonde, maintenance is something to consider.  Maintenance can be any where from every 3 weeks to 5 weeks depending on what you are going after.  For instance if you want to be a full platinum blonde, mean Blonde from Root to Ends, you will be in the Salon minimally every 3 weeks. If you decide to do a Balayage you can stretch that out to coming in for a touch up ever 4-5 weeks. The difference is in choosing the direction is when going full Platinum you will have a very visual growth where Balayage is a very natural grow out that allows more time between visits.

3. What products should I have at home to maintain my color.

Home products are important if you want to maintain the vibrancy, shine and tone of your hair color. Let your stylist direct you in the specific products to use and steps to take to keep the integrity of your hair as well as maintaining your blonde. For instance your stylist may suggest switching your daily shampoo from a deeper cleansing option to one that is color safe and free of sulfates, or they may put you on a purple shampoo to help with your tone once a week. Just allow them to direct you on what is the best products that will work for your personal needs.

4. How long will the results last? [

While hair color maintenance is important, it's also good to understand the timeline of the hair color itself. Some colors may last longer on the hair, while others tend to fade more quickly.  It all comes down to how well your hair type can hold  color as well as the texture of the hair itself.  Talking through this point with your stylist will help you to better understand the life of your soon to be hair color.

5. Will going blonde cause irritation?

Everyone's skin reacts differently to different stimulants, chemicals and products. If you're aware of a certain skin condition or sensitivity, be sure to let your stylist know beforehand. Having his conversation prior to color application will ensure that your stylist uses products that are safest for you.

 6. How often should i wash my hair?

Once your hair is colored, your hair care routine might need to change. In order to keep up with this new development, be sure to ask your stylist how often you should cleanse your hair.  While over washing can lead to fading color, lack of cleansing can lead to product build up.  Find the  perfect balance for your hair routine by discussing your hair type and porosity with your stylist.

Are there other questions that are asked about going blonde? YES, but these are the top.  If you have other questions, always talk to your stylist, ask questions and have an open dialogue so you have all your answers before you start the process.
